VB: LE MOYNE SWEEPS WILMINGTON AND USP IN NON-CONFERNCE
ACTION
Philadelphia, Pa. - Junior outside hitter Krista Prentice
(Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) registered 12 kills and four
blocks to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a pair of
win on Saturday at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia's
Morgan Arena. The Dolphins defeated Wilmington, 3-0, in their first
match of the afternoon and knocked off host, USP, 3-0 in the final
match of the day.
In the first match, the Dolphins defeated Wilmington by scores of
27-25, 25-14 and 25-19. Prentice landed nine kills in the match,
while also recording two digs and a solo block. Freshman middle
hitter Morgan McDermott (Camillus, N.Y./West
Genesee) pounded out six kills and added four digs, an ace
and a block, while senior outside hitter Elizabeth Cheek
(Huntington Beach, Calif./Rosary) connected on six kills,
had 12 digs, four blocks and a pair of service aces. Senior setter
Kaylin Brainerd (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) dished
out 21 assists, recorded six digs and had four aces, while
classmate Lindsey Gleason (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier)
posted a match-high 21 digs.
In the nightcap, the Dolphins topped the Devils by scores of 25-23,
25-20 and 25-22. Le Moyne was helped in the match by 20 hitting
errors by USP, 11 service errors, eight receiving errors and three
ball-handling errors. Cheek, McDermott and freshman
Danielle Fetsch (O'Fallon, Mo./Fort Zumwalt West)
each had five kills in the match. Cheek added six digs and three
service aces in the match, while McDermott blocked four attempts by
USP and Fetsch had three blocks. Gleason registered 16 digs in the
match with Brainerd dishing out 13 assists and landing four
kills.
Le Moyne (7-2), which has won all 12 games in four road matches
this season, returns to action on Sunday morning at Holy Family at
11:00 a.m.
