VB: UNDEFEATED DOLPHINS OPEN LE MOYNE INVITATIONAL WITH TWO
WINS
Syracuse, N.Y. – Freshman Morgan McDermott (Camillus,
N.Y./West Genesee) landed 19 kills on 24 attempts to lead
the Dolphins in two victories in the opening day of the Le Moyne
Invitational. McDermott led the way with 10 kills in a 3-1 victory
over Millersville in the morning and followed with nine kills in
the Dolphins second game, a 3-0 sweep of Post University.
In the day’s first game, the Dolphins defeated Millersville
(3-6) 3-1 as six Dolphins recorded five or more kills. Behind
McDermott’s 10 kills, Krista Prentice (Amherst,
N.Y./Sweet Home), Kelli Willets (Apalachin,
N.Y./Vestal) and Elizabeth Cheek (Huntington
Beach, Calif./Rosary) each added eights kills each. Senior
setter Kaylin Brainerd (Liverpool, N.Y. /
Liverpool) dished out 25 assists. Millersville took the
second game 27-25, it was only the second game dropped by the 5-0
Dolphins this season. Meredith Sinbeck led Millersville with 10
kills and 19 assists.
McDermott continued her strong hitting in game two going 9-for-9 to
pace the Dolphins to a 3-0 sweep of Post University (1-5). Prentice
added seven kills as Cheek chipped in with five aces to go along
with her three kills. For Post, Teresea Hodges led the way with
eight kills
Le Moyne (5-0) returns to action on Sunday as the Le Moyne
Invitational has the host Dolphins take on Dominican at 1:30 p.m.
and American International at 6:00 p.m.
