VBALL: LE MOYNE OUTLASTS PACE IN FIVE-GAME NE-10
MATCH
Syracuse, N.Y. – Three players landed double-digit kills for
the Le Moyne College volleyball team and the Dolphins edged Pace in
a five-game Northeast-10 Conference match at Ted Grant Court.
Le Moyne and Pace traded the first four games before the Dolphins
took the final frame, 16-14. Junior Elizabeth Cheek (Huntington
Beach, Calif./Rosary) led Le Moyne with 15 kills and two service
aces on the afternoon. Seniors Jodi Smith (Angola, N.Y./Eden) and
Caitlin Richardson (Victor, N.Y./Victor) delivered 14 and 13 kills,
respectively.
Richardson and junior Kaylin Brainerd (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool)
each finished with four blocks for the Dolphins. Brainerd also
dished out 51 assists and picked up nine digs in the win. Junior
Lindsey Gleason (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) and sophomore Krista
Prentice (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) chipped in with 12 digs and 10
digs, respectively.
The Dolphins breezed in the first game, 25-18, before dropping the
second, 25-22. Down 20-15 in the second game, Le Moyne stormed back
to take a two-point lead. But Pace responded by scoring the final
five points of the game.
Le Moyne edged the Setters, 26-24, in game three. Pace answered
with a 25-21 win in the fourth game before Le Moyne took the match
with a 16-14 win in the decisive game.
Sianna Johnson led Pace with 20 kills and four aces. Victoria
Pompilus added 11 kills and nine blocks in an afternoon’s
worth of work. Danielle Furka finished with 16 kills, seven digs
and three aces in the loss.
Le Moyne (14-10, NE-10 7-5) returns to action when it hosts
Bentley at 7 p.m. on Friday.
