ELIZABETH CHEEK AND KAYLIN BRAINERD
HONORED BY NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE
South Easton, Mass. - Le Moyne juniors Elizabeth Cheek
(Huntington Beach, Calif./Rosary) and Kaylin
Brainerd (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) have been recognized
by the Northeast-10 Conference with weekly volleyball honors, as
announced by the conference office on Monday, Oct. 6.
Cheek, an all-conference selection as a freshman and sophomore,
was named conference's player of the week for the second time this
season. Cheek recorded 43 kills (4.30/gm) and 27 digs (2.70/gm) in
Le Moyne's 3-0 week. She landed 11 kills in a 3-0 win at Roberts
Wesleyan on Tuesday, Sept. 30. On Saturday against Southern New
Hampshire, she registered 15 kills and two service aces in a 3-0
sweep. Cheek capped the week by contributing 17 kills and 15 digs
in a 3-1 win at Saint Anselm.
Brainerd, honored as the conference's setter of the week for the first time in her career, registered 106 assists (10.60/gm) and 20 digs (2.00/gm) in the 3-0 week. She opened the week by recording 33 assists and five kills in the 3-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan. Brainerd dished out 30 assists and posted two service aces in the 3-0 sweep of Southern New Hampshire and completed the week with 43 assists and 12 digs in the 3-1 win over Saint Anselm.
Le Moyne (11-6, NE-10 4-2), which has won six consecutive matches, returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 9 in Springfield, Mass. against American International at 7:00 p.m.
