Kearney, Demos & Sadowski Power Bentley Past Le Moyne, 3-1
WALTHAM, Mass. - Sophomore Alex Kearney (La Jolla, Calif./La Jolla HS) and senior co-captains Christina Sadowski (Salem, N.H./Salem HS) and Carey Demos (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale HS) combined for 40 kills and only seven errors as Bentley overcame a slow start to best Le Moyne College, 3-1, in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Friday night at the Dana Center.
After Le Moyne pulled out a 30-28 win in game one, Bentley took the next two in commanding fashion, 30-19 and 30-18. The Falcons maintained a lead of three-to-six points throughout most of the fourth game, closing out the match with a 30-26 victory.
The win boosted the Falcons to 16-8 overall and 8-1 in the Northeast-10. Le Moyne dropped to 4-6 in the conference and 10-16 overall.
Kearney topped the Falcons in kills with 15, along with six digs, two blocks and two aces. Sadowski hit .550 with 13 kills and six blocks, and Demos had a .647 hitting percentage, 12 kills and three blocks. Sophomore Kristine Mickelson (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch HS) followed with 10 kills and four blocks.
Junior setter Tori Piskulick (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch HS) amassed 43 kills, 11 digs and two aces, and sophomore libero Cassie Kraft (New Braunfels, Texas/St. Mary's Hall) had a team-high 16 digs.
Sophomore Elizabeth Cheek (Huntington Beach, Calif.) played well for the visiting Dolphins, finishing with 19 kills, 15 digs, two aces and a .395 hitting percentage.
