LE MOYNE PUSHES BRYANT EARLY AND LATE BUT BULLDOGS
PREVAIL IN FOUR SETS
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Le Moyne College’s volleyball team
fell to Bryant University in four sets at Ted Grant Court. The
Dolphins (10-15, 4-5 NE-10) won the first set, 30-20, but the
Bulldogs (18-11, 9-0 NE-10) won the next three, 30-14, 30-23 and
30-27.
Le Moyne built an early advantage at 19-11 and led by as many as 10
during the first set. In the match’s second set, Bryant raced
out to a 24-10 lead. The Bulldogs scored six straight points in the
match’s third set to turn an 18-18 deadlock into a 24-18
lead. In the game’s final set, Le Moyne trimmed an early
deficit. The Dolphins made it 26-25, but Bryant withstood the late
rally.
For Le Moyne, Jodi Smith led the way with a season-high 17 kills
and eight digs. Elizabeth Cheek contributed with 13 kills and seven
aces. Freshman Amanda Kershner set a new career-high with nine
kills.
The Dolphins travel to Bentley and Merrimack for Northeast-10
Conference matches Friday and Saturday before returning home for
the season’s final two home matches. Le Moyne hosts St.
Anselm on Oct. 27 and Southern New Hampshire on Oct. 28. Both
matches begin at noon.
