SBALL: SCHWEIKERT’S CLUTCH HITTING LEAD LE MOYNE TO
TWO VICTORIES
KISSIMMEE, FL – The Le Moyne College
softball team closed out their week at the Rebel Games with two
victories on Saturday morning. The Dolphins opened the day with a
4-0 extra inning victory over Caldwell College. Le Moyne would then
deal Adelphi University a 1-0 shutout to improve to 10-2 on the
season.
Against Caldwell, senior Jennifer Farrelly (Latham, NY /
Shaker) pitched a complete game shutout to earn her third
win of the season. Scoreless until the eighth inning, junior
Kelly Schweikert (Rochester, NY / Spencerport)
broke open the game with a three run triple. Following a sacrifice
bunt by Leah Ford (Pulaski, NY / Pulaski), fellow
freshman Barbara Shea (Clifton Park, NY /
Shenendehowa) pushed across the Dolphins’ fourth run
on a run scoring single.
Sophomore Jenna Vanacore (Hicksville, NY / Holy
Trinity) recorded her fourth consecutive shout out to lead
the Dolphins to a 1-0 victory over Adelphi. She allowed two hits
and struck out three Panthers on the day. Vanacore improved her
record to 6-0 and has not allowed a run in 33 consecutive innings
of work.
Le Moyne’s only run of the afternoon would come off the bat
of Kelly Schweikert as the infielder lofted a solo home run in the
second inning.
Le Moyne returns to action on Saturday, March 21st as they travel
to NYIT for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
