LE MOYNE SOFTBALL CHOSEN FIRST IN PRE-SEASON
NORTHEAST-10 CONFERNECE POLL
South Easton, MASS. - Defending Northeast-10
Conference regular season champions Le Moyne College has been
picked first in the 2008 Northeast-10 softball preseason poll. The
Dolphins received seven first place votes. Bryant received four
followed by Southern Connecticut with three, and lastly UMass
Lowell with one.
The Dolphins earned the programs sixth consecutive trip to the NCAA
Tournament in 2007 as they captured the Northeast-10 Conference
league championship with a 32-17, 23-4 record.
Le Moyne returns seven starters from last year. Senior Emma Murphy
made the 2007 NE-10 second team. Emma Murphy (.308 Avg., 9 HR, 32
RBI). Some other key returning starters include infielder Bailey
Phillips (.305 Avg., 2 HR, 15 RBI), third basemen/catcher Caitlin
O’Neil (.275 Avg., 2 HR, 30 RBI), pitcher/Designated player
Sarah Reed (.298 Avg., 4 HR, 25 RBI, 5-4 W/L, 2.79 ERA, 75.1 IP, 35
SO), Pitcher Caylinn Christophersen (11-4 W/L, 3.19 ERA, 79.0 IP,
53 SO), and Pitcher Jennifer Farrelly (4-4 W/L, 1.52 ERA, 73.1 IP,
53 SO).
Le Moyne opens the season with 12 games in Florida from March 2-8.
The Dolphins are scheduled for their first home game April 5
against American International College.
