LE MOYNE SOFTBALL SIGNS TWO IN EARLY SIGNING PERIOD.
LEAH FORD AND BRENNA KLEIN TO JOIN DOLPHINS IN 2009
SYRACUSE, NY – Le Moyne College Interim Coach Ed Mahar
announced that high school seniors Leah Ford and Brenna Klein have
signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball at Le Moyne
College in 2009.
“Leah Ford and Brenna Klein are two very strong
student-athletes that we are very excited to see join our program.
They are both fine students and exemplify what it truly means to be
a ‘student-athlete’ at Le Moyne College,” said
softball head coach Ed Mahar.
Leah Ford – Pitcher/Infield
A five-year varsity infielder and pitcher for Pulaski Academy and
Central School for Chris Randall & Jill Truax, Ford was named
the Player of the Year OHSL Patriot Division each of the last three
seasons. In addition, she has been named All League 1st Team OHSL
Patriot Division and All Section III Class C for three consecutive
seasons. Ford earned All CNY honors in 2006 as a utility player and
2007 as an infielder.
In Ford’s varsity career, she has a .367 batting average with
13 home runs, 13 triples, 17 doubles and 81 RBI’s in 300

in 290 innings pitched. She has registered 11 shutouts, eight
one-hitters, two no-hitters and one perfect game.
A member of the High School Honor roll for the last three years,
Leah Ford has earned NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete honors in soccer,
basketball and softball.
Mahar’s thoughts on Ford:
“Leah is a tremendously versatile player that can
potentially play any of eight positions for us. In addition, she
will have the opportunity to compete for a spot in the starting
rotation.”
Brenna Klein – Pitcher/3B
A four-year varsity pitcher and third basemen at Ocean View High
School in Huntington Beach, California, Brenna Klein was named the
2007 Golden West League Pitcher of the Year. In ’07, Klein
recorded a 0.46 ERA with 67 strikeouts in 64 innings pitched. At
the plate, she had a .413 batting average with two home runs and a
.525 on base percentage.
Klein is a three-time member of the Principals Honor Roll and was
received the Scholar-Athlete Award in her sophomore season.
Mahar’s thoughts on Klein:
“Brenna comes from an area of the country where softball
competition is very strong and we feel as though she can make an
immediate impact to our program. Her impressive pitching and
hitting skills will strengthen our offense and add depth to our
pitching staff.”
The Dolphins open the 2008 campaign on March 2nd as they travel to
the Rebel Spring Invitational in Florida. The Dolphins earned the
programs sixth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2007 as
they captured the Northeast-10 Conference league championship with
a 32-17, 23-4 record.
