LE MOYNE SOFTBALL OPENS SEASON AT REBEL SPRING
INVITATIONAL
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -Defending Northeast-10 Conference
regular season champions Le Moyne Dolphins start their season this
year selected first in the 2008 Northeast-10 softball preseason
poll. The Dolphins play 49 games this year, 13 of which are at the
Rebel Spring Invitational in Florida.
The Dolphins earned the programs sixth consecutive trip to the NCAA
Tournament in 2007 as they captured the Northeast-10 Conference
league championship with a 32-17, 23-4 conference record.
Ed Mahar enters 2008 as the interim head coach, marking his 15th
season with the softball program. A former bullpen catcher for the
Syracuse Chiefs, he brings a vast softball and baseball background
to the team.
New addition to the coaching staff for the Dolphins this year is
assistant coach Kristen Deslauriers. Deslauriers, a former Dolphin,
is a graduate assistant from Liverpool, NY.

This year the Dolphins bring five freshmen to complete the 2008
season’s roster. outfielder Danine Perry (Utica, NY),
outfielder Amada Daum (Auburn, NY), Pitcher and first basemen
Katelyn Fowler (Sandy Creek, NY), pitcher and outfielder Jenna
Vanacore (Hicksville, NY), and catcher Kim Baker (Murrietta,
CA).
Le Moyne opens the season with 13 games in Florida from March 2-8.
The Dolphins are scheduled for their first home game April 5
against American International College.
