FOUR ALL-CONFERENCE SELECTIONS LEAD LE MOYNE INTO NORTHEAST REGIONAL

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - For the sixth consecutive season the Le Moyne College softball team has earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Dolphins were selected as the number one seed in the Northeast Regional being held on the campus of C.W. Post in Brookville, N.Y. The double-elimination tournament begins Thursday with the Dolphins squaring off against Northeast-10 Conference foe UMass Lowell at 11:30 a.m. The winner of the eight-team tournament advances to the NCAA Division II Championships in Akron, Ohio.

Four members of the two-time defending regional champion Dolphins were recently honored by the Northeast-10 Conference. Senior centerfielder Lindsay Spaziani (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) was named to the First Team for the second time in her career and has been named to one of the three teams all four years as a Dolphin. Junior Emma Murphy (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) was named the second team first baseman for the second consecutive season. Seniors Martha Senko (Pine City, N.Y./Elmira Free Academy) and Kristen DesLauriers (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) were named to the third team. Senko was selected as a third team pitcher for the second time in three seasons, while DesLauriers was selected at catcher for the second time in her four year career and third time being honored by the conference overall.

Spaziani leads the team in hitting at .374, hit six home runs, drove in 19 runs, and scored a team-high 34 runs.

Murphy has blasted a team-high nine home runs and has a team-leading 32 runs batted in to go along with a .307 batting average.

DesLauriers is batting .295 with a team-high nine doubles, six home runs, and 30 runs batted in. Behind the plate, she has four pick-offs and has thrown out 12 runners in 17 stolen base attempts.

Senko is tied for the team-high in wins with 11. She has a 1.76 earned run average abd has struck out 59 batters in 99.1 innings of work.

The Dolphins, regular season champions of the Northeast-10 Conference, swept the River Hawks in their two regular season meetings, but were defeated on the opening day of the conference tournament by the eventual champion River Hawks this past weekend.
