NO. 16 BARRY BLANKS NO. 8 LE MOYNE 5-0, 6-0 IN SOFTBALL SWEEP
MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - Liz Bennett and Amber Jack pitched complete game two-hit shutouts as No. 16 Barry blanked No. 8 Le Moyne 5-0 and 6-0 in a non-conference softball doubleheader at Buccaneer Field. The Dolphins (2-7) have been shut out in three straight games.
In the opener, Lindsay Spaziani (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) led off with a single and Bailey Phillips (Rochester, N.Y./Greece-Arcadia) connected for a fifth-inning base hit. Junior pitcher Caylinn Christophersen (Norwich, N.Y./Norwich) took the loss for the Dolphins.
In the nightcap, junior Sarah Reed (DeWitt,
N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) limited the hosts to one run over the first
five innings, but the Buccaneers rallied for five runs in the sixth
to open up a 6-0 lead. Reed and sophomore Jennifer Farrelly
(Latham, N.Y./Shaker) had Le Moyne's only hits.
The Dolphins head back to Florida's west coast for a weekend tournament at Florida Gulf Coast University that begins on Friday.
