XC: MCANDREW FINISHES SECOND, MICARONI 10TH AT 36TH ANNUAL PAUL SHORT RUN

Bethlehem, Pa. - Senior Jake McAndrew (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) finished in second place among 245 runners to lead the Le Moyne College men's cross country team to a 16th-place finish at the 36th annual Brooks Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh on the Goodman Campus. Sophomore Gina Micaroni (Blossvale, N.Y./Canastota) posted a 10th-place finish among 248 runners to lead the women's squad to a 14th-place finish.

The University of Mary Washington won the men's team competition, while the University of Ottawa took first place in the women's race. Philadelphia's Shawn Andrea was the top men's finisher with a time of 25:39. On the women's side, Caitlin Dorgan of Delaware Valley College topped the field in a time of 22:11.

McAndrew covered the eight kilometer course in a season-best time of 25:44 to finish in second place, just five seconds behind Andrea. Freshman Nicholas Cutter (Housatonic, Mass./Monument Mountain) was the second Dolphin to cross the finish line with a time of 27:22 to place 54th. Freshman Evan Oustrich (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) followed with an 80th-place finish in a time of 27:53. Freshmen Patrick Micaroni (Blossvale, N.Y./Canastota) and Matthew Carey (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) rounded out the top-5 harriers for the Dolphins. Micaroni placed 133rd in 28:51, while Carey completed the course in 29:38 to finish 167th.

On the women's side, Micaroni crossed the finish line 10th in a season-best time of 23:04. Freshman Anna D'Ambro (Schaghticoke, N.Y./Hoosic Valley) completed the 6K course in 23:22 to finish in 16th place, while classmate Erin Hudson (Fulton, N.Y./Fulton) placed 90th in 25:11. Seniors Chelsea Gibson (Weedsport, N.Y./Weedsport) and Kimberly Thompson (Lafayette, N.Y./Lafayette) completed the top-5 finishers for the Dolphins. Gibson finished in 25:48 to place 118th, while Thompson crossed the finish line 124th in 25:55.

The Dolphins will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 10 when they host The College of Saint Rose in a dual meet at 11:00 a.m.
