XC: MCANDREW AND D'AMBRO LEAD DOLPHINS TO SECOND PLACE FINISHES AT GOLDEN KNIGHTS JOUST

Colonie, N.Y. - Senior Jake McAndrew (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) won the men's race and freshman Emma D'Ambro (Schaghticoke, N.Y./Hoosic Valley) topped the field in the women's race to lead the Le Moyne College cross country teams to second-place finishes in their respective races at The College of Saint Rose's 5th Annual Golden Knights Joust on Saturday morning at the Crossings of Colonie. Saint Rose won both the men's and women's team titles.

McAndrew, who also won last year's Golden Knights Joust, finished the five-mile course in 26:25 to capture the individual title by 47 seconds. Freshman Evan Oustrich (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) was the second Dolphin to finish in the top-10, crossing the finish line seventh in a time of 28:29, while classmate Nicholas Cutter (Housatonic, Mass. (Monument Mountain) placed 11th in 28:51. Freshmen Matthew Carey (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) and Patrick Micaroni (Blossvale, N.Y./Canastota) rounded out the top-5 finishers for the Dolphins, placing 23rd and 24th, respectively.

On the women's side, D'Ambro won the women's race in her collegiate debut in a time of 19:18 to outdistance her closest competitor by 17 seconds. Sophomore Gina Micaroni (Blossvale, N.Y./Canastota) finished the three-mile course in 19:35 to give the Dolphins the top two finishers. Freshman Erin Hudson (Fulton, N.Y./Fulton) finished the race in 21:31 to place 11th, while senior Chelsea Gibson (Weedsport, N.Y./Weedsport) placed 17th in 22:12 and classmate Kimberly Thompson (Lafayette, N.Y./Lafayette) crossed the line in 22:30 for a 22nd-place finish.

The Dolphins return action on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Binghamton Invitational at 11:00 a.m.
