MTEN: LE MOYNE SWEEPS YELLOW JACKETS, 9-0, IN NE-10
ACTION
Syracuse, N.Y. - The Le Moyne College men's tennis team rolled to
its third consecutive victory with a 9-0 sweep of American
International on Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference
action at the Le Moyne Recreation Center.
Freshmen Daniel Sullivan (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn),
Brian Rice (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) and
James Shelp (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland)
cruised to two-set victories in singles action. Sullivan, the
Northeast-10 Conference freshman of the week, picked up a 6-0, 6-2
win over Robert Lubold at first singles. Rice posted a 6-0, 6-0
victory at second singles over Leo Santos, while Shelp topped Alex
Touhey at third singles 6-0, 6-0. Freshmen Andrew Gleason
(Gorham, Maine/Cheverus) and Joseph Persia
(Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) and senior Ben
Jordan (Cassville, N.Y./Mt. Markham) posted 8-0 pro-set
wins at fourth, fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
The doubles teams of Sullivan and Rice, Shelp and Persia and Jordan
and classmate Chris Meeker (Wampsville,
N.Y./Oneida) all registered 8-0 victories.
Le Moyne (7-9, NE-10 5-5) close out the regular season with a
non-conference match against Utica on Wednesday, April 15 at 4:00
p.m. Prior to the match, the senior class of Jordan, Meeker and
David Norton (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) will be honored
for their contributions to the program.
