SWIMMING AND DIVING TEAMS WRAP UP FALL SEMESTER AT ITHACA COLLEGE INVITATIONAL

Ithaca, N.Y. – Sophomore Tara O'Donnell (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) won an event and added a pair of top-four finishes to lead the Le Moyne College women's swimming and diving team at the three-day, 12-team Ithaca College Invitational at the Ithaca Athletics & Events Center Aquatics Pavilion. The men's team was led at the invitational by freshman Tim Buff (Latham, N.Y./Shaker).

O'Donnell earned 102 of Le Moyne's 366 points over the three days by recording three top-four performances and a 10th-place finish. In her first event of the weekend, O'Donnell turned in a career-best time of 24.86 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle to place 10th and earn 17 points. On Saturday morning, she registered a fourth-place finish (tops among non-Division I competitors) and earned 26 points in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:36.67. She recorded a third-place finish on Saturday night by touching the wall in the 100-yard backstroke in an NCAA "B"-cut time of 57.31 seconds, the fastest time of her career in the event. O'Donnell closed out the invitational on Sunday by posting a season-best time of 2:04.73 to touch the wall first in the 200-yard backstroke and earn 32 points.

Senior Allie Scorzelli (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) earned the Dolphins 34 points by finishing in the top-15 in a pair of events and in the top-20 in another event. On Friday night, she turned in an 18th-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:16.51, over five seconds faster than her previous best time this season. On Saturday morning, she registered a 13th-place performance in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:50.05, her fastest time of the year by over 10 seconds. She then placed 14th in the 200-yard butterfly in a season-best 2:17.26 on Saturday night. Freshman Melissa Boyd (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) registered 32 points in the two diving events. She placed 10th and earned 17 points in the one-meter event with 359.20 points, while earning the team 15 points with a 12th-place finish in the three-meter event with 348.30 points. Senior Sarah Connelly (Peru, N.Y./Peru) earned 11 points by placing 16th in the 200-yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 2:34.92, while sophomore Katelyn Votapka (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) placed 18th in the 1650-yard freestyle in 18:47.84 to earn seven points.

Buff placed in the top-13 in four events to earn 61 of Le Moyne's 442 points. He opened the invitational by placing 13th in the 200-yard IM with a season-best time of 1:59.81 to earn 14 points. On Saturday morning, he earned 16 points by placing 11th in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:17.69, his fastest time of the year by almost five seconds. Later that night, he picked up another 11th-place finish with a season-best time of 55.21 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke. In his final event of the weekend, the 200-yard backstroke, he posted a season-best time of 1:58.79 to place 12th and earn 15 points.

Sophomore Daniel Tarbrake (Beltsville, Md./Gonzaga College High) turned in Le Moyne's top individual finishes of the weekend by placing eighth in both butterfly events en route to registering 51 points. In the 100-yard butterfly on Saturday morning, he recorded a season-best time of 51.90 seconds to earn 22 points, while he touched the wall in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:56.16, his fastest time of the year by over 2.5 seconds. He opened competition at the invitational by placing 18th in the 200-yard IM in 2:00.69, four seconds faster than his previous best time of the season. Sophomore Josh Byrne (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) earned 49 points in the two diving events. On Friday night, he recorded a score of 417.10 to place fifth in the three-meter diving event to earn 25 points. He then finished sixth with a score of 465.20 off the one-meter board to register 24 points on Saturday afternoon. Classmate Ben Verdi (Buffalo, N.Y./St. Joseph's) picked up 40 points over two events on Saturday and Sunday. He tallied 20 points on Saturday night by touching the wall ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a season-best 59.73 seconds. Verdi closed out the invitational by placing ninth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 2:14.08. Junior Ricky Divaccaro (Woodstown, N.J./Woodstown) placed in a pair of individual events to earn six points. In the 100-yard butterfly on Saturday morning, he finished 21st with a season-best time of 54.06 seconds to pick up four points, while he recorded a season-best time of 56.29 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke on Saturday night to place 23rd and earn two points. Senior Connor Agen (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) earned 11 points in the 1,650-yard freestyle by placing 16th in 17:56.96, while sophomore Craig Carey (Belle Harbor, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) placed 19th in 18:18.07 to earn six points. Senior Tyler Olson (Warners, N.Y./West Genesee) earned five points on Friday night by placing fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.11 seconds, while sophomore Chris Mosconi (Gloversville, N.Y./Gloversville) earned five points in the 100-yard backstroke by placing 20th with a time of 56.04 seconds.

A pair of relay teams registered top-five finishes at the invitational. On Friday night, the quartet of Divaccaro, Verdi, Tarbrake and Olson recorded a time of 1:38.32 to place fifth in the 200-yard medley relay. On Saturday morning, Buff, Verdi, Tarbrake and Olson combined to post a season-best time of 3:36.80 to place fourth in the 400-yard medley relay.

The Dolphins return to the pool on Sunday, January 12th against Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Michael's at 12:00 p.m.
