HOSFORD, FLETCHER, AND THIEKE ALL EARN WEEKLY HONORS FROM
NE-10
South Easton, Mass. - Le Moyne College junior Sean
Hosford (Garden City, N.Y./Garden
City), diver Jack Fletcher (Syracuse,
N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy), and freshman
Scott Thieke (Jamesville, N.Y./ Jamesville-DeWitt)
have all received Northeast-10 Conference weekly swimming honors,
as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Hosford, honored by the conference as the men's swimming athlete
of the week for the first time this season, won a pair of
individual events and was a member of a winning relay team to lead
Le Moyne to a 154-103 win over Nazareth on Saturday. Hosford won
the 50-yard freestyle in 22.43 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle
in a time of 49.16. Hosford also teamed for a win as part of the
400-yard medley relay team that finished in 3:43.57.
Fletcher, recognized as the men's diver of the week for the first
time in his career, registered wins in each of the two one-meter
diving events. He posted a score of 128.20 in the first diving
event, and later followed with a 128.15 in the second event.
Thieke, earning freshman athlete of the week for the third time this season, placed first in two individual events and also teamed up with Hosford, sophomore Drew Acquaviva (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem), and junior Jerry Dumary (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa), for a victory in the 400-yard medley relay. Thieke topped the field in both the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.72 and the 500-yard freesytle in 5:16.57.
Le Moyne (3-3) returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 21 as they
travel to Albany, N.Y. to take on Northeast 10 opponent St. Rose.
