SWIM: CHIDSEY LEADS DOLPHINS IN 7TH PLACE FINISH AT
UNYSCSA
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Senior Ricky Chidsey (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool)
led Le Moyne with seven top-four finishes (three individual and
four relay), including two first place finishes, at the 2009
UNYSCSA Championships to help the Dolphins place seventh out of 15
teams. Alfred won the meet with a total of 1,149 points followed by
Ithaca (1,063), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1,039), Union
(998) and Stevens (821) to round out the top five.
Chidsey was on four relay teams that placed in the top four over
the three-day event. Le Moyne placed fourth in the 200 Yard
Freestyle, second in the 400 Yard Medley and third in both the 200
Yard Medley and 400 Yard Freestyle. In addition to the four relays
Chidsey placed in the top four on, Le Moyne had a top-10 finish in
the 800 Yard Freestyle. In both the 200 and 400 Medley relays, Le
Moyne qualified as NCAA "B" Cut time.
Chidsey, who placed second in the 50 Yard Freestyle, took home
first place in both the 200-yard Freestyle and 200-yard Backstroke.
In both the 50 Yard Freestyle and 200 Yard Freestyle, Chidsey
qualified as a B Cut time. The performance that Chidsey put on in
the 200-yard Backstroke not only was good enough for an NCAA
Division II A Cut time, which will allow him to compete in the NCAA
Championships, but he also broke older brother and assistant coach
Will Chidsey's Association and school record with a time of
1:48.54.
Sophomore Jerry Dumary (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston
Spa) had three individual top-10 finishes, including two
top-5 finishes in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (4th) and the 200 Yard
Breaststroke (3rd). The third place finish in the 200 Yard
Breaststroke was good enough to qualify for a "B" Cut time.
Sophomore Sean Hosford (Garden City,
N.Y./Garden City) finished the meet with two top-10
finishes in the 50 Yard Freestyle (9th) and 100 Yard Freestyle
(4th).
Freshman Andrew Acquaviva (Delmar,
N.Y./Bethlehem) earned two individual top-10 finishes
placing 10th in the 200 Yard Backstroke and second in the 100 Yard
Backstroke, which was a "B" Cut time.
Freshman Mike Christine (Clifton Park,
N.Y./Shenendehowa) took home one top-10 finish when he
finished second in the 100 Yard Butterfly.
