DOLPHINS PLACE 2ND & 3RD AT NE-10 CHAMPIONSHIPS

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Le Moyne College swimming and diving teams placed 2nd and 3rd at the Northeast-10 Conference championships held on the campus of Southern Connecticut State this weekend. The men placed 3rd overall while the women placed 2nd. The Southern Connecticut men and women both placed first overall to claim the conference title.

The Le Moyne men placed third overall behind Southern Connecticut and Bentley. The Dolphins were led by senior Ricky Chidsey (Liverpool, NY / Liverpool) who claimed individual victories in the 100 and 200 backstroke and second overall in the 50 and 100 freestyle. The relay team of Andrew Acquaviva (Delmar, NY / Bethlehem), Sean Hosford (Garden City, NY / Garden City), Andrew Dearing (Kenmore, NY / Canisisus) and Chidsey earned a first place finish in the 400 freestyle. Sophomore Jerry Dumary (Balston Spa, NY / Balston Spa) placed second in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and freshman Andrew Acquaviva added a second place finish in the 100 backstroke.

On the women’s side, it was a two-horse race between Le Moyne and Southern Connecticut. The Owls edged the Dolphins with an overall score of 904 against the Dolphins’ 816.5. The ‘Phins were led by freshman Katie O’Donnell (Delmar, NY / Bethlehem) as she captured victories in the 400 IM and the 100 backstroke. Additionally, O’Donnell placed second overall in the 200 IM and 200 backstroke. Junior Nicole Murphy (Camillus, NY / West Genesee) claimed first place in the 100 breaststroke and placed second overall in the 200 breaststroke with a school record time of 2:27.47. Senior Meghan Nugent (Binghamton, NY / Chenango Valley) rounded out the Dolphin attack with a second place finish in the 1650 freestyle.

The Dolphins return to the pool following the holiday break when they take on Alfred State on Saturday, January 17th.
