DOLPHINS SPLIT WITH OSWEGO IN SWIMMING AND DIVING SEASON-OPENER
Oswego, N.Y. - Sophomore Jerry Dumary (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) and freshman Mike Christine (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) won three events each to lead the Le Moyne College men's swimming and diving team to a 163-135 victory on Saturday at Laker Hall. On the women's side, senior Meghan Nugent (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) and freshman Katie O'Donnell (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) won three events each, but Oswego edged the Dolphins 152-147.
Dumary, a four-time Northeast-10 Conference champion as a freshman, picked up his first victory of the season in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:02.71. Dumary also touched first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:14.91 and the 200-yard IM in 2:08.63. Christine earned his first collegiate win with a time of 22.14 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle. Christine also registered wins in the 100-yard freestyle in 49.74 seconds and the 100-yard butterfly in 54.77 seconds. Freshman Drew Acquaviva (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) earned his first two victories as a collegian with a time of 55.80 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke and 2:03.58 in the 200-yard backstroke. Senior Ricky Chidsey (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) registered a pair of victories for the Dolphins. Chidsey topped the field in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:50.37 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:13.01. The Dolphins also picked up wins in the 200-yard medley relay (1:41.71) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:21.13).
Nugent picked up the first win on the afternoon for the Dolphins with a time of 11:26.78 in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Nugent later registered first-place finishes in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:16.58 and the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.44. O'Donnell recorded her first collegiate victory in the 100-yard backstroke in a school-record time of 59.60 seconds. O'Donnell also touched the wall first in the 200-yard backstroke in a school-record time of 2:10.38 and the 200-yard IM in 2:11.86. Senior Lauren Ziemann (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) picked up her first victory of the season in 56.52 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle.
Le Moyne returns to action on Saturday, October 25 for its home-opener against Utica at 1:00 p.m.
