Two Le Moyne College swimmers earn All-America honors at NCAA Division II National Championships, men’s relay 12th in 200 free for Honorable Mention All-America

INDIANAPOLIS –Sophomore women’s swimmer Alison Lesher (Sherrill, N.Y./V-V-S) and senior men’s swimmer Will Chidsey (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) earned All-America honors at the NCAA Division II Championship meet. The men’s 200 free relay team earned a 12th place finish for Honorable Mention All-America status.

Lesher scored in two of three events to become the programs first women’s swimmer to acquire full All-America status. Lesher competed in the 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 butterfly, finishing 23rd in the 200 IM in 2:11.00 and qualified for finals in the 400 IM and 200 butterfly. Lesher finished the 400 IM in 10th place and posted a time of 4:29.97. The time was a program record and the sixth-fastest of all the finals. In the preliminary heat, Lesher finished 11th and posted a time of 4:34.49. In the 200 butterfly, Lesher improved upon a 6th place preliminaries finish in 2:07.32 by over a second to a 5th place finish in the finals with a time of 2:05.71.

Will Chidsey scored in all three individual events he competed in. On opening day, he placed 12th in the 50 free with a time of 20.91. In the preliminary heat, he posted a time of 20.82, just four-tenths of a second short of the top eight. In the following days, he finished sixth in the 100 free with a time of 45.44 and 9th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.46. Chidsey picked up 28 individual points for Le Moyne.

Freshman Ricky Chidsey (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) scored in one individual event for the Dolphins. He placed 13th in the 200 backstroke in 1:52.48 after a finish of 1:53.20 in preliminaries. He fell 3 tenths of a second short of qualifying for finals in the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.22. He also competed in the 50 free, finishing with a time of 21.89.

The relay teams of Ricky Chidsey, Will Chidsey, Ryan Lowrie (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City) and Shawn Bankey (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) scored in all three relays they competed in. The quartet teamed for a 16th place finish with a time of 1:35.41 in the 200 medley, 12th in the 200 free with a time of 1:25.14 and touched 15th with a time of 3:30.17 in the 400 medley.

The 400 free team of Bankey, Ricky Chidsey, Will Chidsey, and William Clayton (Chicago, Ill./Loyola Academy) placed 18th with a time of 3:09.84.

The Le Moyne College men’s swimmers placed 20th with 47 points while the women placed 23rd with 21 points.
