Mens Swimming: Chidsey wins 3 events, Dolphins finish 7th at UNYSCSA

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Junior Will Chidsey (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) won three events as Le Moyne finished seventh in the UNYSCSA Swimming & Diving Championship at Nottingham High School. Union won the three-day championship by just 15.5 points over runner-up Alfred, giving the Dutchmen men and women a sweep of the state championship meets. Union’s women topped last week’s NYSWCAA Championship.

Union totaled 1,115 points, followed by Alfred’s 1100.5. Hartwick was third followed by RPI, Ithaca, RIT, the host Dolphins, Clarkson, St. Lawrence, Utica, Nazareth, Vassar and Skidmore.

Chidsey set an association record on the final day - winning the 200 back in 1:50.27. He topped the field and qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championship meet in the 200 back, 100 back (50.38) and 50 free (20.62). The 42nd annual NCAA Division II Championship meet is scheduled for March 9-12 at the YMCA Aquatic and Family Center in Orlando, Fla.
