SILVA TIES PROGRAM’S SHUTOUT RECORD AS MEN’S SOCCER DEFEATS FELICIAN, 1-0

Lyndhurst, N.J. – Senior goalkeeper Matthew Silva (Brampton, Ontario/St. Augustine) recorded his 25th career shutout to lead the Le Moyne College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Felician College on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Lyndhurst Recreation.

Following almost 62 minutes of scoreless action, during which time Le Moyne tallied a 7-4 advantage in shots, the Dolphins scored the game's only goal. Off a corner kick by junior midfielder Jaime Carolissen (Cape Town, South Africa/Chesterhouse/Cayuga C.C.), junior back Trevor Creedon (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) headed the ball inside the near post for his third tally of the season, all of which have been game-winners.

The Golden Falcons (2-10-1) had a pair of chances to even the score in the final 10 and one-half minutes, but could not put the ball past the goal line. At the 79:28 mark, Silva rejected a shot by Alex Jean, while Creedon cleared the ball away from the goal with 4:29 remaining in the contest.

Silva finished the game with two saves to earn his eighth win of the year and 25th career shutout. The 25 shutouts tie Steve White '09 for the most in the program's history. Anthony Tsouhnikas registered five saves in the loss for Felician. Le Moyne posted a 10-9 edge in shots, while posting an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Le Moyne (8-5), which has recorded seven of its eight victories via shutout, returns to Northeast-10 Conference play on Wednesday against Assumption College at home at 3:00 p.m.
