SILVA AND MURPHY GARNER NSCAA EAST REGION THIRD TEAM HONORS

Silva (Brampton, Ontario/St. Augustine) and sophomore
forward Casey Murphy
(Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) have been named to the
NSCAA men's soccer East Region Third Team, as voted upon and
released by the association.
Silva, an all-region selection for the first time in his career,
played every second between the pipes for the Dolphins for the
second straight year (1600:54). The 2010 Northeast-10 Rookie of the
Year and a second team all-conference selection the last two years,
Silva led the conference with 84 saves and ranked fifth in shutouts
with three. One of only three goalkeepers in the conference to play
all of their team's minutes, Silva posted a 1.80 goals against
average and a .724 save percentage. Over Le Moyne's four-game
unbeaten streak from October 13-23 (3-0-1), Silva posted a 0.69
goals against average and recorded an .864 save percentage in
making 19 saves, while registering a shutout against New Haven.
Murphy, honored by the NSCAA for the first time, led the team in
scoring with 10 goals and two assists for 22 points as a starter in
16 of 17 games played. Murphy, who tallied all 10 of his goals in
conference action, ranked fourth in the conference in goals scored
in all games and tied for first in goals scored in conference play.
Murphy, who earned a spot on the Northeast-10 Conference Second
Team, ranked sixth in points, while his 21 points in conference
action were the second most. Murphy, who scored the game-winning
goal in victories over Southern Connecticut State and New Haven,
registered a point in 11 of Le Moyne's 17 games, including 10 of
the team's 13 conference games.
Le Moyne finished the year with a record of 7-9-1 and earned a
berth in the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Soccer Championship for
the 12th straight year, the second-longest streak in the
conference.
