Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's soccer team scored a pair of first half goals en route to a 2-0 win over The College of Saint Rose on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field. With the victory, the Dolphins take a 3-1 lead in the year-long "Upstate Challenge" between the two institutions.

The Dolphins scored the only goal they would need just under 33 minutes into the game. Sophomore midfielder Casey Murphy (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) sent a pass up the middle of the field to junior forward Michael Spadine (Owego, N.Y./Owego Free Academy) in the top left corner of the penalty box. Spadine then poked the ball underneath Saint Rose goalkeeper James Taber and into the lower right corner of the goal for his second tally of the season.

Le Moyne doubled its lead at the 41:09 mark. Along the right sideline, senior back Bob Buchanan (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) pushed a pass over to sophomore midfielder Alexander Lautner (Munich, Germany/Theodolinden Gymnasium), who sent a quick pass into the penalty box. Junior midfielder Zachary MacNabb (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/UNC Pembroke) then sent a shot from 12 yards out into the left side of the goal for his third marker of the year.

Junior goalkeeper Matthew Silva (Brampton, Ontario/St. Augustine) made five saves to register his second shutout of the year. James Taber made one save in the first half for the Golden Knights, while allowing two goals, while Todd Lawson turned away three shots in the second half.

Le Moyne (4-6, 3-4 NE-10), which improved to 13-0 against Saint Rose since the Golden Knights joined the NE-10 in 2000, returns to action on Saturday against Bentley at 1:00 p.m.
