MSOC: #6 DOLPHINS TO HOST #22 SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE IN NCAA QUARTERFINALS ON SUNDAY


Indianapolis, Ind. - The sixth-ranked Le Moyne College men's soccer team will host 22nd-ranked Southern New Hampshire University in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 1:00 p.m., as announced by the NCAA on Monday afternoon. The winner of the contest will advance to the NCAA semifinals on Dec. 3 at the University of Tampa's Pepin Stadium.

Le Moyne (18-2-2), the top seed in the East Region, advanced to the quarterfinal match-up with a 1-0 win over Franklin Pierce on Sunday afternoon. Junior forward Angelo Reina (Frankfort, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame), named the regional's most Outstanding Offensive Player, scored the game-winning goal at the 64:20 mark on a rebound off a saved shot. Junior midfielder Joe Viviano (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) took a shot from the top of the penalty box on the right side of the field that was saved by the Franklin Pierce goalkeeper, but Reina knocked the rebound into the back of the net. Junior back Sean Lawlor (Kirkham, Preston/Baines School) was named the Outstanding Defensive Player, while he and Reina were joined on the all-tournament team by senior goalkeeper Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland), senior back Davide DiPaola (Rochester, N.Y./Greece-Athena/Niagara) and sophomore midfielder Jesse Carr (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles).

Southern New Hampshire (14-4-3), the third seed in the region, played its way into the quarterfinals by defeating sixth-seeded Southern Connecticut State, 4-3, in penalty kicks in the first round and beating second-seeded Wilmington, 1-0, in overtime in the second round.

During the regular season, the Penman topped the Dolphins, 3-0, on Sept. 13 in Manchester, N.H. The Penman scored their three goals in a span of 16 minutes in the first half to hand the Dolphins their first loss of the season.
