LE MOYNE GARNERS FOURTH SEED IN NORTHEAST-10 CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

South Easton, Mass. - The Le Moyne College men's soccer team has received the fourth seed in the upcoming eight-team Northeast-10 Conference Championship, as announced by the conference office on Thursday.

Le Moyne (12-4-2, NE-10 9-3-1), appearing in the championship tournament for the eighth consecutive season under head coach Tom Bonus, will open play on Sunday, Nov. 2 at home at 12:00 p.m. against fifth-seeded Merrimack. The match with the Warriors marks the second straight year the two squads have played at Le Moyne in the quarterfinals of the tournament. Merrimack scored just over two minutes into the second overtime period last season to record a 2-1 victory.

In the two teams' prior match-up this season, the Dolphins topped Merrimack, 2-1, on Saturday, Oct. 4 to end a four-game losing streak to the Warriors. Sophomore Angelo Reina (Frankfurt, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) gave the Dolphins a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute with a breakaway goal off a feed from freshman Jesse Carr (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles). Sophomore Sean Lawlor (Kirkham, Preston/Baines School) tallied the eventual game-winner in the 62nd minute off assists from Carr and senior Brandon Morse (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee).

Senior midfielder Matt Pecheone (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) leads the Dolphins, and is tied atop the conference's scoring leaders, with 11 goals and 27 total points. Junior goalkeeper Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) ranks third in the conference with a 0.86 goals against average and is tied for second with seven shutouts this season.

The winner of Sunday's match advances to the semifinal round against the winner of the match between eighth-seeded Bentley and first-seeded UMass Lowell. If UMass Lowell wins, it will host the semifinal round on Wednesday, while the Le Moyne/Merrimack winner would host if Bentley advances to the semifinals.
