ASSUMPTION SLIPS BY #16 DOLPHINS, 1-0, IN NE-10 ACTION
Worcester, Mass. - Stephen Blaisdell scored in the 69th minute to lead Assumption to a 1-0 victory over the #16 nationally-ranked Le Moyne College men's soccer team in Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
The Dolphins registered six shots and the Greyhounds recorded four shots as the two teams played a scoreless first half. In seven contests this season, the Dolphins have held six opponents scoreless in the opening 45 minutes of action.
Blaisdell delivered the game-winning goal in breaking the scoreless tie at the 68:51 mark. After junior goalkeeper Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) saved Brendan McGee's initial shot, Blaisdell collected the rebound and put it into the net. Le Moyne had three shots after falling behind, but could not net the equalizer.
Le Moyne and Assumption each recorded 11 shots in the match, while the Greyhounds held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks, including 3-0 in the second half. White registered four saves between the pipes for Le Moyne, while Brandan Sullivan stopped five Le Moyne shots.
