DOLPHINS UPSET NO. 23 DOMINICAN, 1-0; WHITE COLLECTS 12
SAVES IN SHUTOUT
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – On the strength of a second half goal from
Sean Lawlor, Le Moyne’s men’s soccer team knocked off
nationally-ranked Dominican, 1-0, at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic
Complex. With the non-conference victory, the Dolphins move to
10-2-2 overall and remain 7-2-2 in the Northeast-10. The Chargers
fall to 8-2-5 but remain perfect at 6-0-1 in the Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference.
Both teams remained scoreless after one half of play and had to sit
through a lightning delay that caused a 40-minute stoppage during
halftime. With 27:25 remaining, Lawlor sent in a free kick from
just outside of the box for his second goal of the season. For the
game, the Chargers held a 19-11 advantage in shots.
In goal, Steve White earned the shutout with 12 saves.
Le Moyne returns to Northeast-10 Conference action Saturday as the
Dolphins host Southern New Hampshire at the Thomas J. Niland
Athletic Complex at 2 p.m. The contest is part of Soccer Alumni
Day.
