CALDWELL SCORES TWICE IN 47 SECOND SPAN TO DOWN LE MOYNE MEN'S SOCCER 2-1
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Justin Miller and Bard Skjelstad scored in a 47 second span in the second half to lift Caldwell to a 2-1 win over Le Moyne in a non-conference men's soccer match at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The Cougars improve to 10-4-3, while Le Moyne drops to 8-6-3.
Caldwell entered the game ranked tenth in the latest NSCAA/adidas New England Region poll, while Le Moyne was ranked sixth.
Le Moyne scored the first goal of the match in the 36th minute. Senior Rob Moskwa (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) collected a free kick from Mark Lukowiecki (Edinburgh, Scotland) and knocked it into an empty net for his third goal of the season.
The Dolphins carried their 1-0 edge into the intermission, but Caldwell answered with a pair of goals in the 59th minute. Thirteen minutes and 12 seconds into the half, Miller scored off a double assist from Jan Marco Jiras and Skjelstad. Skjelstad netted the game-winner 47 seconds later off a feed from Miller.
Caldwell outshot its hosts 12-11 and held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) made five saves for Le Moyne, while John Plaugic turned aside four shots in the victory.
Le Moyne closes out the regular season on Saturday at Saint Anselm.
