LE MOYNE MEN'S SOCCER PLAYS SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE TO 2-2 TIE

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Redshirt freshman Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) made 15 saves as Le Moyne played Southern N.H. to a 2-2 draw in a Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer match. Steve Blackwell (Owego, N.Y./Owego) and Brandon Oot (LaFayette, N.Y./Manlius Pebble Hill) scored Le Moyne's goals. The host Penmen are now 7-6-3 overall and 5-3-3 in the league, while Le Moyne goes to 8-5-3 overall and 6-4-2 in the NE-10.

The teams combined for 52 shots at goal in the game, as the Penmen finished with a 37-15 edge in shots for the game.  White was the story of the game, as he turned away 15 of 17 shots on goal, several of which were from point-blank range.

Le Moyne opened the scoring 19 minutes into the game when junior Steve Blackwell (Owego, NY/Owego) collected a loose ball 25 yards from the SNHU net and blasted a shot into the upper right corner of the Penmen net for his first goal of the year.

Southern New Hampshire scored the next two goals of the match. The Penmen evened the score in the 32nd minute. Graduate student Simon Kearney (Barrow-upon-Humber, England) took a pass from freshman Kevin Woods (Alyth, Scotland) on the right flank and lofted a shot over White and into the upper left corner for his fourth goal of the year. The Penmen took a 2-1 lead in the 75th minute. Senior Onekie Mitchell (Yonkers, NY) created the scoring chance when he carried the ball down the right flank and sent a perfect crossing pass to classmate Bobby Dufour (Hudson, NH) in front of the Le Moyne net. Dufour tapped the ball home for his second goal of the year.

The Dolphins tied the game just five minutes later when sophomore Brandon Oot (Lafayette, NY/Manlius Pebble Hill) headed home a free kick by junior Mark Lukowiecki (Edinburgh, Scotland).

Both teams had several solid scoring chances late in regulation.  SNHU netminder Dan Pelc (Hamilton, Ontario) came up with two big saves on shots by senior Ryan Cunningham (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville) and also made a diving save following a shot by senior Josh Harrison (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) with 6:38 left. White made point-blank saves against Dufour with 13 minutes left and Kearney with five minutes left.

The Penmen had three solid scoring chances in overtime. Senior Pat White (Amherst, NH) sent a blast off the crossbar with 8:13 left in the first overtime, and White denied freshman Jeremy Tufts (Exeter, NH) during a breakaway with less then one minute left in the first overtime. White also made a point-blank save following a shot by Woods with 4:42 left in the second overtime.

Pelc made several solid saves for the Penmen and finished with six stops overall.

Le Moyne hosts Caldwell on Tuesday in a non-conference game.
