MEN'S SOCCER: LE MOYNE AND BRYANT PLAY TO 1-1 DRAW
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) made seven saves, including a key stop in the final minute of regulation, as Le Moyne played Bryant to a 1-1 draw in a Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer match at Bulldog Stadium.
Brandon Morse (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) put Le Moyne (8-3-1, 6-2-1 NE-10) ahead 1-0 with a goal in the 21st minute of play. Mark Lukowiecki (Edinburgh, Scotland) took an indirect free kick from just outside 40 yards for the Dolphins, however, the ball would deflect off a Bryant defender and directly to Morse who was able to beat Bryant goalkeeper Alex Bissias (Harpswell, Maine) for the game's first goal.
The Bulldogs (5-3-3, 3-3-3 NE-10) would answer a few minutes later. Junior Matt Amsden (North Providence, RI) put on a strong rush on the Le Moyne net and found freshman Matthew Brown (South Easton, Mass.) on the right side. Brown was able put it past White with a one-timer to tie the game up 1-1 in the 28th minute.
The Bulldogs would have a golden opportunity in the final minutes of regulation, but Wheeler Smith's (Franklin, Mass.) low shot inside the box was stopped by White with an excellent save to help force extra time.
Le Moyne will host 2005 national runner-up Franklin Pierce in a rematch of last season's Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The match will be televised live on Time Warner Sports Channel 26 throughout Central and Northern New York.
