MEN'S SOCCER: LE MOYNE WINS FIFTH STRAIGHT, 2-1 OVER SAINT ROSE

ALBANY, N.Y. - Senior forward Ryan Cunningham (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville) assisted on the tying goal and scored the game-winner as Le Moyne squeaked past Saint Rose in a Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer match at The Albany Academy for Boys. Le Moyne (8-3, 6-2 Northeast-10) extended its winning streak to five consecutive matches, while Saint Rose (1-9, 0-6 Northeast-10) remains winless in league play.

The Golden Knights got on the board first after junior midfielder Ryan Hunt was taken down by a Dolphin defender just 2:22 into the match. Saint Rose was awarded a penalty kick that Todd Driscoll capitalized on, giving the Golden Knights a 1-0 edge.

The score remained 1-0 until the 59th minute when sophomore forward Matthew Pecheone (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) beat a Saint Rose defender to a thru ball from Cunningham. Pecheone dribbled around junior keeper Peter Cappiello and found the back of the net for his team-high ninth goal of the season that knotted the score at 1-1.

Ten minutes later, the Dolphins were awarded a free kick from 25-yards out. Junior midfielder Eric Macias (Silver Spring, Md./Wheaton) took a shot that deflected off of Cappiello and directly to the feet of Cunningham who buried the shot from in front of the net.

Freshman goalkeeper Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) improved to 7-3 between the posts for the Dolphins and made four saves in the match. Cappiello had six saves for Saint Rose.

Le Moyne travels to Bryant for a 1 p.m. kickoff in Smithfield, R.I. on Saturday.
