LE MOYNE MEN'S SOCCER WINS THIRD STRAIGHT, 3-2 OVER NYACK
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Sophomore Matt Pecheone (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) scored with six minutes remaining to lift Le Moyne to a 3-2 men's soccer win over Nyack at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. Pecheone's team-high seventh goal of the season paced the Dolphins (6-3) to their third straight win and sent Nyack (1-8) to its eighth setback in nine matches.
After a scoreless first half, Le Moyne's Ryan Cunningham (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville) collected a deflection from outside the box in the 62nd minute and knocked it home for his first goal of the season. Nyack scored the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead. Greg Allen and Samuel Odoro netted goals in the 66th and 72nd minutes.
With just over seven minutes remaining, senior Robert Moskwa (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) tied the game at two. He finished off a feed from Brandon Morse (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) for his second goal of the season.
Fourty-four seconds after Moskwa tied the score, Pecheone separated from the Nyack defense and scored his seventh goal of the season. He has netted six goals in the last six games.
Le Moyne outshot its guests 17-11. Goalkeeper Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) made three saves for Le Moyne, while Nyack's Jack Carillo made four stops for Nyack.
Le Moyne finishes off its four-game homestand on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. against Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Michael's.
