MEN'S SOCCER: LE MOYNE SCORES TWO SECOND-HALF GOALS TO KNOCK OFF UNBEATEN AIC
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Sophomore Matt Pecheone (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) and freshman Brice Rudat (Nassau, N.Y./Columbia) scored in the second half to lift Le Moyne to a 2-1 win over previously-unbeaten American International. The Dolphins (4-3, 3-2 Northeast-10) have won two of three home matches this season.
Marek Przybylek (Olsztyn, Poland) put American International (4-1, 2-1 Northeast-10) on the board on a free kick four minutes and 24 seconds into the contest. Przybylek slipped a direct kick from five yards outside the penalty box around the Le Moyne defensive wall and into the corner. It marked the first goal the Dolphins have allowed in the first half this season.
Pecheone knotted the contest at one with his team-high sixth goal of the season. He slid a feed from Bennett Grubbs (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) into the corner in the 54th minute.
Rudat knocked home a rebound in the 65th minute to break the one-all tie. It marked his first career goal and first career points.
The Dolphins outshot their guests 20-13. Freshman goalkeeper Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) made six saves for his third win of the season. Michael Murphy (Ithaca, N.Y./Herkimer CC) turned aside five shots for American International.
Le Moyne hosts Bentley on Saturday at 1 p.m.
