MERRIMACK NIPS LE MOYNE MEN'S SOCCER 2-1
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Greg Motta scored the go-ahead goal in the 81st minute to lead Merrimack to a 2-1 Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer win over Le Moyne. The Warriors (4-2, 1-2 Northeast-10) played with an extra-man for the final 63 minutes and 15 seconds due to a Le Moyne (3-3, 2-2 Northeast-10) first half red card.
After a scoreless first half, Kiel Milliken put the hosts on the board with his third goal of the season 21:29 into the second half. He knocked home a feed from Donnie Aylward to deliver Merrimack a 1-0 edge. Less than two minutes later, sophomore striker Matt Pecheone (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) answered for Le Moyne with his fifth goal of the season.
Motta corralled a crossing pass from Tokelo Gugshe and kicked it into the right corner for the game-winning goal.
Merrimack outshot its guests 16-7, including a 12-2 edge in the second half. Jason Baker turned aside five shots in the victory, while Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) made four saves for the Dolphins.
Le Moyne will return to action on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at home against American International.
