Franklin Pierce Earns top Seed for Northeast-10 Men's Soccer Tournament

South Easton, Mass. Franklin Pierce, last years Northeast-10 Tournament finalist, has received the top seed for the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament, presented by Select Sport America. This marks the first regular season championship for Franklin Pierce, who finished with a 10-1-2 NE-10 mark and finished the regular season 12-4-3 overall.
The Quarterfinal round kicks off Sunday, October 30. In quarterfinal action, the No. 1 seed Franklin Pierce will host eighth seeded and Southern New Hampshire University (10-6-2, 6-5-2 NE-10), No. 2 seed Merrimack College (11-4-2, 9-2-2 NE-10) hosts No. 7 Bryant University (6-4-3, 7-5-4 NE-10), No. 3 Le Moyne College (11-5-2, 9-3-1 NE-10) hosts No. 6 American International College (10-5-2, 7-4-2 NE-10), and No. 4 Southern Connecticut State University (10-4-3, 8-2-3 NE-10) hosts No. 5 UMass Lowell (10-5-2, 8-4-1 NE-10).
The semifinal round will take place Wednesday, November 2 at the highest remaining seeds while the highest remaining seed after the semifinals will host the championship game Sunday, November 6.
NOTES: Franklin Pierce, ranked #3 in the latest NCAA regional rankings, claimed its first mens soccer conference title of any kind since winning the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) championship in 1995. The Ravens earned the top seed and home field advantage throughout in the NE-10 Tournament. FPC has scored 24 goals over its last four matches in a current seven-match unbeaten streak. FPC ended Southern Connecticuts run of five-straight NE-10 regular season conference titles Merrimacks second place finish is the best regular season result since the Warriors claimed the Northeast-10 Conference Regular Season title in 1997. The Warriors began the season with a seven-game unbeaten streak (6-0-1). Merrimack is currently ranked #18 in the latest NSCAA Mens Soccer Coaches Poll and tied with FPC for #3 in the region For the first time in program history, the Le Moyne has won 10 or more games in five consecutive seasons. Prior to the arrival of head coach Tom Bonus, Le Moyne had won 10 or more games in just four of 45 seasons. The Dolphins are ranked #5 in the region in the latest NCAA rankings Southern Connecticut will enter conference postseason play as the #4 seed. The Owls are ranked #13 in the most recent NSCAA national poll and #2 in the NCAA regional rankings. Southern Connecticut has claimed five of the last six regular season conference championships and are in search of its first conference tournament title UMass Lowell is the two-time defending Northeast-10 Tournament Champions. The River Hawks have qualified for conference postseason play every year since 2000 when UML joined the league. Bryant finished its season with an unbeaten record of 5-0-2 at home. They went 4-1-1 to finish the year allowing only four goals in that span. The Bulldogs are in search of their first tournament victory since 1988 when Bryant won the regular season title and lost in the championship game to Springfield, 1-0 American International has set a school record for wins in a season with 10. The Yellow Jackets posted a record of 7-1-1 to conclude the regular season. AIC will be making its third Northeast-10 playoff berth, and first since 2000 Southern New Hampshire has qualified for the Northeast-10 Tournament for the sixth consecutive year. The Penmen have won the conference tournament in 2000 and again in 2002, when SNHU advanced to the NCAA Championship game.
