MEN’S SOCCER: KYLE CLANCY SCORES OVERTIME GOAL TO LIFT #8 DOMINICAN PAST LE MOYNE 3-2
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Kyle Clancy scored three minutes and 21 seconds into the first overtime to lead No. 8 Dominican to a 3-2 win over Le Moyne at the Thomas J. Niland Atheltic Complex. The Chargers (15-1) scored the final three goals to hold off the Dolphins (11-4-2).
Le Moyne jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the opening half. Off a well-placed corner kick, senior midfielder Ryan Vinciguerra (Syracuse, N.Y./Faith Heritage) pushed the ball back from the endline to freshman Brandon Morse (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) who directed it to senior Geoff Berger (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa). Berger punched it across to open the scoring.
Sophomore Eric Macias (Siliver Spring, Md./Wheaton) blasted home a feed from junior Ryan Cunningham (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville) to put the Dolphins up 2-0 in the 55th minute.
Dominican rallied with the next three goals to secure its 15th win of the season. Kyle Clancy knocked in a pass from Brent Gaylord to cut it to a 2-1 game in the 65th minute. Ryan Clancy knotted the contest at two with a penalty kick in the 74th minute. In the overtime period, Clancy converted his own rebound to score the game-winner.
Dominican, the top ranked team in the New England region, outshot Le Moyne 24-9 and was awarded a 9-4 advantage in penalty kicks.
