MEN’S SOCCER: TIM MANN REGISTERS EIGHTH SHUTOUT OF SEASON,
DOLPHINS BLANK SAINT ANSELM 3-0
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior goalkeeper Tim Mann
(Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) registered his eighth
shutout of the season as Le Moyne blanked Saint Anselm 3-0 in a
Northeast-10 Conference men’s soccer match at the Thomas J.
Niland Athletic Complex. With the win, the Dolphins (11-3-2, 9-3-1
Northeast-10 Conference) have clinched a spot in the top four and a
conference tournament home game.
Sophomore Eric Macias (Silver Spring, Md./Wheaton)
put the Dolphins on the board with his team-high eighth goal of the
season three minutes and nine seconds into the contest. Junior
Ryan Cunningham (Baldwinsville,
N.Y./Baldwinsville) carried toward the end line, flicked
it toward the goalmouth where Macias headed it home.
Freshman Brandon Morse (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) made
it 2-0 with his first goal of the season. He finished off a feed
from senior back Kladji Lika (Syracuse, N.Y./Bryant &
Stratton) with just under eight minutes remaining in the
opening half.
Senior midfielder Mariel Lako (Rochester,
N.Y./Penfield) tacked on an insurance goal in the
73rd minute. He collected a crossing pass from
Cunningham and knocked it past Saint Anselm goalkeeper Tim
Galligan (Framingham, Mass./Framingham).
Galligan made four saves for the Hawks, while Mann made one stop in
the shutout. Le Moyne outshot its visitors 12-5.
The Dolphins complete their league schedule with a 9-3-1 mark and
28 points. After today’s action, Le Moyne sits atop the
league standings. However, Merrimack (8-1-2, 26), Southern
Connecticut (7-1-3, 24) and Franklin Pierce (8-1-2, 26) have two
league games remaining. Le Moyne hosts No. 8 Dominican in a makeup
game Monday at 3 p.m.
