MEN’S SOCCER: MOSKWA SCORES WINNER TO PROPEL LE MOYNE PAST BRYANT 1-0 IN OVERTIME

Syracuse, N.Y. - Junior Robert Moskwa (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) scored with just over four minutes remaining in the second overtime to give Le Moyne a 1-0 victory over Bryant University in a Northeast-10 Conference men’s soccer game at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. Le Moyne (7-1-2, 5-1-1 Northeast-10) recorded its sixth shutout of the season and won for the fourth consecutive time. The Bulldogs drop to 3-4-3 overall and to 3-3-2 in the Northeast-10.

The winning goal was set-up by a key play in the defensive end of the field by senior goalkeeper Tim Mann (Silver Springs, Md./Paint Branch). Mann made a sliding clear as the ball was rolling towards the sideline to start the offensive attack. Freshman Matthew Pecheone (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) collected Mann’s clear and fed Moskwa, who was able to sneak behind the Bulldogs defense before nailing the game-winning goal to the right of the goalkeeper.

Mann recorded a season-high seven saves for Le Moyne to post his fifth victory and fifth shutout of the season. With his effort today, Mann lowered his goals against average to 0.35 and has stopped 91.4% of the shots he has faced, both ranking in the top ten nationally. Alex Bissias stopped three Dolphin shots for Bryant in the setback. The hosts were out-shot 18-14 and each team had 4 corner kicks.

The Dolphins return to action Tuesday, October 4th at Franklin Pierce College in a 4 p.m. start.
