Men's Soccer: Le Moyne Blanks Falcons, 2-0

WALTHAM, Mass.- Le Moyne College scored a goal in each half to beat Bentley College, 2-0, Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 men's soccer action. With the win Le Moyne improves to 4-1-2 and 2-1-1 in the NE-10, while Bentley drops their second straight to fall to 3-2-0 and 1-2-0 NE-10.

The Dolphins got the only goal they needed on a freak play in just the  second minute of play. Sophomore goalkeeper Derek DuBois (Walpole/Walpole HS) came off his line to clear a ball in his box, but miscommunication in the back eventually led to DuBois knocking his clearance off of one of his defenders and into the path of Mariel Lako (Rochester, N.Y.). The senior midfielder collected the ball and slotted into an open net from the top of the penalty area.

Le Moyne would seal the victory with under a minute to play. With Bentley  throwing men forward, Eric Macias (Silver Spring, Md.) picked up the ball  near midfield and ran into the Bentley penalty area where he was dragged down by junior defenseman Gino Servello (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack HS) for a penalty shot. Macias took the penalty after creating the chance and calmly shot past DuBois for his fourth goal of the season.

Bentley out-shot Le Moyne 14 to nine and held a four to three advantage in  corners, but for the second straight game was unable to turn the advantage in play into any goals. Mann made four saves for Le Moyne to post his third shut out of the season, while DuBois made one save for the Falcons.
