Moskwa and Pecheone score twice to lift Le Moyne 4-1

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior Robert Moskwa (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) and freshman Matt Pecheone (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) scored two goals each in the second half to lead Le Moyne to a 4-1 win over Assumption in a Northeast-10 Conference contest at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The Dolphins (3-0-1, 1-0 Northeast-10) extend their season-opening unbeaten streak to four straight, while Assumption drops to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the Northeast-10.

Assumption used an own goal to take a 1-0 lead in the opening half. Freshman Dylan O’Neill (North Attleboro, Mass./North Attleboro) played a dangerous ball into the offensive end where a Le Moyne defender headed it into the corner of the net.

Le Moyne answered with four in the final session. Moskwa knocked home a feed from senior Mariel Lako (Rochester, N.Y./Penfield) to knot the contest at one. Pecheone netted two goals over a span of 39 seconds to put the Dolphins up 3-1. In the 71st minute, Moskwa touched home a feed from Pecheone for the Dolphins’ fourth goal of the game and his fourth tally of the season.

Le Moyne outshot its visitors 26-2 and held an 11-2 edge in corner kicks. Brett Miller (Franklin, Mass./Tri County Regional) made eight saves, including seven in the opening half, for the Greyhounds.

Le Moyne hosts Merrimack on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
