VOTE ANDREW CHADDERDON AND KATHLEEN CONESE LACROSSE MAGAZINE DII PRESEASON PLAYERS OF THE YEAR
Le Moyne College seniors Andrew Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) and Kathleen Conese (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) have been nominated by Lacrosse Magazine as 2014 Division II Preseason Player of the Year candidates for their respective sports. Chadderdon, who scored the game-winning goal in each of Le Moyne's three NCAA wins en route to capturing the 2013 National Championship, earned USILA Second Team All-America honors as a junior. Chadderdon ranked second on the team in goals with 31, was third in points with 49 and ranked fourth in assists with 18. A Northeast-10 Conference First Team selection, he tied for the team lead in extra-man goals with six (tied for 10th in NE-10), while scoring a team-best four game-winning goals and picking up 23 ground balls. After going scoreless in the first game of the season, Chadderdon had a point in each of the last 19 games of the season. He recorded multiple points in 15 games, including four games with at least four points. He netted multiple goals in nine games, including a career-high five goals in the semifinals of the NCAA Championships as the third-seeded Dolphins defeated top-seeded Adelphi University, 16-13.
Conese, named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year as a junior, received IWLCA All-America First Team, IWLCA North Region First Team and Northeast-10 Conference First Team honors last year. One of only two unanimous Northeast-10 Conference First Team selections, Conese led the team in goals scored with 41 and points with a career-high 56 as a starter in all 19 games, while scoring a team-best three game-winning goals. She also dished out a career-high 15 assists, the third-most on the team. She recorded the most ground balls on the team with 35 and the most free-position goals with 12, while finishing third on the squad in caused turnovers with 19, which ranked first among attackers in the Northeast-10 Conference. Conese recorded multiple goals in a team-high 14 games, including a season-high four goals on three occasions, the last of which was a 13-11 victory over Adelphi on April 17 that moved the Dolphins into first place in the conference.
The men's team opens the 2014 season on Saturday, February 15 against Assumption College at Ted Grant Field, while the women's team travels to Roberts Wesleyan College for their season-opener on Wednesday, February 26.
