MEN’S LACROSSE PICKED SECOND IN NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE COACHES POLL

South Easton, Mass. – The Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team has been picked second in the Northeast-10 Conference men's lacrosse preseason coaches poll, as voted upon by the league's 11 head coaches and announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.

Adelphi, which won last year's conference championship game and advanced to the National Championship game, recorded nine of the possible 11 first-place votes to finish with 99 points. The Dolphins, who won the regular season title for the fourth straight season last year, picked up one first-place vote and 91 points for second place. Merrimack, which defeated the Dolphins in the NE-10 semifinals last May, registered the last first-place vote and 83 points to finish third.

Bentley was picked to finish in fourth place for the third straight year with 70 points, while Saint Michael's, which finished third last year, tallied 63 points to place fifth. Assumption was picked to repeat as the sixth-place team and round out the expected playoff field after receiving 49 points.

Pace landed in seventh place after earning 40 points, while Southern New Hampshire was one point back in eighth. Saint Anselm placed ninth with 33 points, Franklin was 10th with 28 points and American International rounds out the poll with 10 points.

Le Moyne, which finished the 2011 season with a 12-2 record and an undefeated conference record (10-0) for the 11th time in 12 years, returns 30 letterwinners and four starters for 2012. The Dolphins return a pair of players that earned Inside Lacrosse/Face-Off Year preseason All-America honors. Graduate student midfielder Tyler Sennett (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) leads the offense after being named to the Northeast-10 Conference First Team and USILA All-America Second Team last year. As a redshirt junior, he recorded 18 points on 16 goals (fifth-highest on the team) and two assists from his position on the first midfield line. Junior defenseman Alex Cameron-Carter (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) anchors the defense after being named to the Northeast-10 Conference Second Team in his first year with the program. A starter in all 14 games, he picked up 15 ground balls and caused six turnovers.

The Dolphins open the season at Seton Hill, which received votes in the final USILA poll last year, on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1:00 p.m. The Dolphins open their home schedule against first-year program and future Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Rose on February 25 at 12:00 p.m. The six-team Northeast-10 Championships begin on Tuesday, May 1 with the semifinals following on May 4 and the finals on May 6.
