MLAX: MATT CHADDERDON SELECTED IN THE 8TH ROUND OF THE MLL COLLEGIATE DRAFT BY THE ROCHESTER RATTLERS
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Le Moyne College senior midfielder and reigning Division II Player of the Year, Matt Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) was selected in the 8th round (44th overall) of the Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft by the Rochester Rattlers. Chadderdon is the second player in program history to be selected in the annual draft and the only player from a Division II program to be selected among the 48 draftees.
As a junior, Chadderdon was the recipient of the game's top honors in leading the Dolphins to their fifth consecutive appearance in the national championship game. In addition to being named an All-American for the second time, Chadderdon was named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, Lt. Donald McLaughlin Jr. Award as the nation's top midfielder and the Lt. Raymond J. Enners Award as the most outstanding player in Division II. From the midfield, Chadderdon led the Dolphins in goals (36) and ranked second on the team in points (43).
Following a one-year hiatus, Major League Lacrosse returns to Rochester for the 2011 season. The Rattlers have focused on adding talent from the New York area, using seven of their eight selections on players from the Empire State.
In a change from recent years, the MLL held its annual collegiate draft in January rather than late May.
Le Moyne opens the 2011 campaign on Saturday, February 26th as it hosts Seton Hill at the new Athletic Turf Complex.
