MLAX: SEVEN DOLPHINS EARN USILA ALL-AMERICAN HONORS.

South Easton, Mass. – Le Moyne’s Jack Harmatuk (Syracuse, NY / CBA / Syracuse U.), Drew Bezek (Lowville, NY / Lowville) and Doug McIver (Altamont, NY / Albany Academy) earned first team All-American honors as announced by the USILA earlier this week. Brian Welch (Ithaca, NY / Ithaca), Matt Chadderdon (Auburn, NY / Auburn), Brian Griffin (Camillus, NY / West Genesee) and Marc Cizenski (Camillus, NY / West Genesee) earned second team accolades.

Junior defenseman Drew Bezek, named the Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, anchors a Dolphin defense that leads the nation in goals against average for the ninth consecutive season. This marks the second consecutive season that Bezek has earned first team honors.

Attackman Jack Harmatuk, a first team all-conference honoree, leads the Dolphins in scoring with 49 points on 32 goals and 17 assists. A transfer from nearby Syracuse University, Harmatuk has recorded a goal in 15 of 16 games this season.

A second team All-American a year ago, McIver leads the nation in goals against average (3.67) and save percentage (.693). McIver was named the NE-10 Goalie of the Year after recording double-digit saves in five games this season and holding opponents to five goals or less in 15 of 16 games.

Griffin, a first team All-American in 2007, earned second team honors this season as a face-off specialist. Winning face-offs at a .600 clip, Griffin leads the club in ground balls (79) and has added five goals and three assist from the midfield.

Second on the team in scoring, Brian Welch has emerged as an offensive force in his senior season. Welch has recorded 47 points on 26 goals and 21 assist. Welch is also second on the club with 56 ground balls in being named to the second team honoree.

Le Moyne’s top goal scorer, Matt Chadderdon earned second team honors while posting 35 goals and five assist. Chadderdon has recorded goals in 15 of 16 games this season and has scored 12 goals over his last three games leading up the national championship game.

Long-stick midfielder Marc Cizenski earned second-team honors at the pole for the Dolphins. In his senior season, Cizenski is third on the team with 39 ground balls and has caused a team-high 24 turnovers.

Undefeated and top-ranked Le Moyne faces C.W. Post on Sunday, May 24th in the NCAA National Championshipgame at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA. This marks the fifth consecutive championship game the Dolphins have reached. In an earlier meeting in March, the Dolphins topped the Pioneers 6-5 at the Carrier Dome.
