LE MOYNE WRAPS UP UNDEFEATED REGULAR SEASON WITH 20-3 DEFEAT OF
FRANKLIN PIERCE.
RINDGE, N.H. – Winners of their last 24 games, the Le Moyne
College men’s lacrosse team wrapped up an undefeated regular
season with a 20-3 defeat of Franklin Pierce on Sunday. The win
improves the Dolphins to 13-0, 10-0 in the Northeast 10. Franklin
Pierce falls to 2-12, 1-9 in conference action. Junior Jack Mooney
led all scorers with four goals as 16 different Dolphins recorded
points on the day.
Le Moyne jumped on the Ravens early posting nine goals in the first
period. Nick Gatto opened the scoring with his only goal of the day
from Mike McDonald 2:05 into the game. The Dolphin defense set the
tone from the beginning, holding FPU to two first half shots and
nine for the entire first half.
Using goals form Mark Bowler, Mike Rabbitt and Jamie Dodge, the
Dolphins scored the first three goals of the second period to open
a 12-0 advantage with under four minutes to play in the half. The
Ravens got on the board with a goal from Luke Flanigan with under a
minute left until the intermission.
The Dolphins used three of second half goals by Mooney and one from
Corey Bulken, Mike McLaughlin, Nick DiSarro and Rabbitt to reach
the 20 goal plateau for the second time this season.
Facing only 17 shots on the afternoon, goalies Doug McIver, Bay
Stoker and Tom Kralovence combined for three saves.
Le Moyne will now prepare for the Northeast 10 Conference
tournament this weekend. The Dolphins will shoot for their eight
straight conference title as they will host the winner of the #5
St. Anselm vs. #4 St. Michaels game on Friday, May 2nd.
