TOP RANKED LE MOYNE SHOOTS PAST ST. MIKES

Colchester, VT – The top ranked Le Moyne Dolphins out shot
St. Michael’s 46-18 en route to a 14-2 victory over the
Purple Knights on Tuesday. The win marks the Dolphins’ 17th
consecutive victory and improves Le Moyne to 6-0, 3-0
NE-10 on the year. St. Michaels falls to 3-4 and 2-2 in conference
play.
Keith Vetter got the Le Moyne offense rolling just :22 seconds into
the game as he found the back of the net to give the Dolphins a 1-0
lead. Alex Bily added a goal at the 9:53 mark to give Le Moyne a
2-0 lead after one period.
Le Moyne would add two more goals within the first minute of the
second quarter to give the Dolphins a 4-0 lead. The Dolphin defense
flexed their muscle in the first half holding the Purple Knights
scoreless on just four shots.
Senior Brian Cost added three of his four goals on the day in the
third period to propel the Dolphins to a 10-1 lead after 45 minutes
of play. Adding four goals, against only one from St.
Michael’s, the Dolphins cruised to the 14-2 conference
victory.
Bily, Vetter and Mike McDonald each scored two goals, while four
other Dolphins recorded one goal on the day.
The Dolphin defense, ranked tops in the nation in goals against
average, has held their opponent to three goals or less in four of
Le Moyne’s six wins.
Doug McIver, the nation’s leader in goals against and save
percentage, recorded four saves in goal to capture his sixth win of
the season.
Junior Brian Griffin controlled the face-off for the second
consecutive game as he won 12 of 13 face-offs. Dating back two
games, Griffin has won 28 of his last 31 face-offs.
Le Moyne returns to the field on Saturday, April 5th as they travel to take on St. Anselm at 4:00 PM on the Southern New Hampshire campus.
