MEN’S LACROSSE CHOSEN FIRST IN NE-10 PRE-SEASON
POLL
South Easton, Mass. - The Le Moyne College Dolphins were
picked to finish on top of the Northeast-10 Men’s Lacrosse
standings this upcoming season as voted by the conference’s
11 head coaches.
Last year’s Division II National Champion, the Dolphins
received 10 first-place votes out of a possible 11. Le Moyne won
their second straight Division II National Championship last season
as they became the league’s first three-time National
Champion. The Dolphins won their first title in 2004.
Bryant University, last year's Northeast-10 Regular Season
Champion, is picked to finish second after receiving 109 points.
The Bulldogs ended Le Moyne's seven year reign as the conference's
regular season champion by winning its first ever title. The
Dolphins though did claim their seventh straight NE-10 Championship
over Bryant, a 5-4 victory in last year's championship game.
Saint Michael's College received 94 points and is selected to
finish third in the standings ahead of Merrimack College whom
received the final first-place vote and 89 points. Saint Anselm
College is predicted to finish fifth after receiving 66
points, slightly ahead of Pace University with 61 points. The
Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University (3-6, NE-10) edged out
Bentley College for the seventh place spot with 59 points. The
Falcons are picked to finish eighth with 54 points.
Assumption College,Franklin Pierce University and American
International College round out the poll respectively.
The men's lacrosse team has also been tabbed at the No.#1 in the
annual USILA Division II coaches poll. Le Moyne was also ranked
atop the Inside Lacrosse poll entering 2008.
Individuals were recognized by Inside Lacrosse Magazine in its
Face-Off Yearbook's list of preseason All-Americans for Division II
men's lacrosse. Le Moyne comes in this season strong with seven
All-Americans. Mike McDonald (Sr.), Al Bily (Jr.), and Brian
Griffin (Jr.), are the Preseason First-Team All-Americans. Marc
Cizenski (Jr.) made the Preseason Second-Team All-Americans, and
Brian Cost (Sr.), Tom Donahue (Sr.), and Tim MacLean (Jr.) received
the Preseason All-American Honorable Mention.
The Dolphins open the regular season on Saturday, March 1st when
they travel to Dowling, a rematch of the 2006 NCAA Division II
national championship game.
