LE MOYNE FALLS IN FINAL MINUTES TO ST. ROSE 76-72.
SYRACUSE, NY - A 3-pointer by the reigning Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year Steve Dagostino with 1:36 remaining broke a 67-67 tie and propelled St. Rose to a 76-72 victory. Le Moyne was led by senior Jason Holmes and sophomore Laurence Ekperigin who both recorded over 20 points in the loss.
Le Moyne and St. Rose battled to a 35-35 tied after 20 minutes of play. The second half went back-and-forth and saw 13 ties and 12 lead changes. Le Moyne would claim the lead with 2:41 remaining in the game as Damani Corbin stole the ball and slashed to the hoop for two points. A free-throw by Shanty Robinson would tie the game for the final time at 67-67 with 2:24 to play. Dagostino's 3-pointer would put the Golden Knights ahead for good as St. Rose closed the game from the free-throw line.
Not to be overshadowed was the performance by Jason Holmes and Laurence Ekperigin. Holmes led the Dolphins with 23 points on 8 of 16 from the field. He also chipped in with five assists and three steals. Ekperigin racked up his seventh double-double of the year as he scored 22 points on 7 of 11 shooting and pulled down 10 rebounds.
St. Rose was led by their frontcourt as Evan Lane scored 22 and Shanty Robinson chipped in with 21. Dagostino added 12 points and nine assists in the victory.
The Dolphins return to action on Saturday, January 26th as they travel to take on Merrimack at 3:30 PM.
